WAYS WE HELP
The Focus of Our Efforts

PEER MENTORING
We currently have peer mentors available. If you would like to be mentored by someone that has successfully adapted to life with SCI/D, fill out the Request a Mentor form and get paired with a mentor today!
If you are interested in becoming a peer mentor, we offer free online training. Individuals need to be at least 1-year post injury.
Contact our Peer Mentoring Coordinator at mentoring@unitedspinalne.org if you have questions.
SOCIAL EVENTS
Want to connect with others with SCI/D or that are full-time wheelchair users? Check out our Upcoming Events for a list of informal monthly events. We have events in Omaha and Lincoln, but we would love to sponsor an event in central/western Nebraska. Contact us if you would like to coordinate an event near you!

VIRTUAL SPEAKER SERIES
We host a virtual event each quarter to help our members learn about valuable resources in their communities, expand their knowledge on issues that impact individuals with SCI/D and discover new opportunities. This virtual option allows us to reach individuals across the state who may otherwise be unable to attend. Reach out to us if you have a topic you would like to learn more about!
VIRTUAL SUPPORT GROUPS
The United Spinal Association offers many virtual supports to gather together folks with common interests such as parenting, technology, etc. as well as virtual social gatherings where you can meet and connect with other folks from around the country. Check out all the great opportunities at Support Groups - United Spinal Association. We know local connection is equally as important. Contact us at unitedspinalne@gmail.com if you would like more information on a virtual support group in Nebraska.

ADVOCACY
We are passionate about advocacy issues as they relate to accessibility, employment, transportation availability and access to services. We look forward to growing the chapters involvement in local and state issues as they impact individuals with SCI/D. Everyone should have a voice, and we want to support you in using your voice to make a difference in your community. Partnering with us as we gather together a team of people to lead our advocacy efforts. To learn more about the Nebraska Advocacy, email contactus@unitedspinalne.org

Anyone can sign up to be an advocate for people with disabilities here: https://unitedspinal.org/grassroots-advocacy-network
